Eduard Friedman's workshop was founded in 1877, although he was not awarded a trade license until 1881. He was known first for his extravagant floral Art Nouveau style and later for his much simpler secessionist designs. He exhibited annually at the Austrian Museum Exhibition for Art and Industry from 1909 to 1914, and employed some of the top Austrian designers of the era, including Hans Bolek (1894-1978), Emanuel Josef Margold (1888-1962), and Otto Prutscher (1880-1949). His workshop was succeeded by M. L. Gaspardi in 1920.
